Current update 2008.05.22. I still haven't done that 2007 special. I'll just dump everything into this one update. XD
Amuro Namie
Baby Don't Cry
album; PLAY; 11; 05:22
This is rather typical pop, but I love Amuro's voice in this, and how optimistic this is. :D
Hide & Seek
album; PLAY; 01; 04:37
For some reason, I think Amuro is really cool in this.
NEW LOOK
single; 60s70s80s; 01; 04:01
This is cute. :DDDDDDD (It's sad that I can't describe this any other way.)
Rock Steady
single; 60s70s80s; 02; 03:31
Is this really 70s? I can't tell. O.o I actually don't like this one too much. It's a little too slow for me. x_x
WHAT A FEELING
single; 60s70s80s; 03; 03:49
Cover song. It's really groovy. :D Especially the "OoOoOoOOOO" part. XD
Aoyama THELMA
そばにいるね (soba ni iru ne)
album: DIARY; 02; 05:10
This song is really addicting. Yah.
GLAY
SORRY LOVE
single; ASHES.EP; 03; 05:36
This song is so much love. I think it's the somewhat-understated feel of it. IDK. I just ♥ it so much.
鼓動 (kodou)
single; 鼓動; 01; 05:20
More love. Honestly, I've listened to this song so many times now that I don't know what to say about it. x_x. Um... ♥?
Hamasaki Ayumi
Depend on you "10th Anniversary Version"
single; Mirrorcle World; 03; 04:41
The arrangement got more... drum-oriented than the original, and... I don't really have anything to say about her vocals because I actually like the A BEST version of this song better.
Life
single; Mirrorcle World; 02; 03:50
Honestly? I'm not feeling it. It's not a bad song - it didn't make me go O.O like Bold & Delicious did, but it feels typical. It sounds like... something I can't place my finger on right now. A mellow, not-quite-slow, and a little rockish ballad.
Mirrorcle World
single; Mirrorcle World; 01; 05:17
I was just saying that the GUILTY version was too short. My only beef with this song is that the chorus and the "yah-yah-yah-yah"s drag out for way too long. The dramatic violin intro is a nice touch, and I actually really like the arrangement for the entire song. I also really like the... bridge? The part that goes "nee bokura to kono sekai wa..." etc.
talkin' 2 myself
album; GUILTY; 03; 04:54
This song is actually pretty hard to sing. O.o Anyway, I still think this single is the best one she had since... HEAVEN. Yah.
Together When...
album; GUILTY; 07; 05:13
I'm still trying to decide whether or not I love this song, but it definitely grew on me (like HEAVEN did way back when). I'm sure I've said this before, but I like that build-up.
YOU "10th Anniversary Version"
single; Mirrorcle World; 03; 04:47
I didn't want another remake after A BALLADS. D: Why didn't she do poker face? Anyway, I don't have anything real to say about this remake either. I prefer this one over Depend on you though.
Hirai Ken
哀歌(aika -ELEGY-)
album; FAKIN' POP; 09; 05:20
Mmmmmm. Even after listening to his other stuff, this remains my favorite. I guess it's got that kind of... dramatic feel to it that I like.
Ito Yuna
alone again
album; WISH; 02; 04:32
My favorite out of her album. It's really... mellow, I guess. She uses her "soft/delicate" voice here, which I really really like and fits right in with the kind of... dreamy arrangement.
HEARTBEAT
album; WISH; 05; 04:22
The arrangement has kind of a trance feel to it - heavy beats, techno-ish(?), etc... I especially like the echo to Yuna's voice in the verses. Interesting attempt.
Power of Love
album; WISH; 01; 04:22
I love how it begins - her voice there really grabbed me. Other than that, it's a vocal-heavy somewhat American pop sounding song.
Koda Kumi
愛証 (aishou)
album: Kingdom; 10; 03:53
I still think this is her best song last year. I usually don't like Kumi singing ballads because they expose all of her vocal weaknesses, but this one is more rockish and doesn't actually have all that much range, I don't think. So it's fine.
L'Arc~en~Ciel
DRINK IT DOWN
single; DRINK IT DOWN; 01; 04:07
Newest single, theme song to Devil May Cry 4 (I WANT THIS GAME AND A PS3). I love this song - it has the creepy gothic action down, and the chorus makes a great ringtone :D.
MY HEART DRAWS A DREAM
album; KISS; 03; 04:17
♥~. I've said all I had to say about this song, so... um... hyde's voice is beautiful here, and the song itself is beautiful. That is all.
海辺 (umibe)
album; KISS; 08; 04:34
My favorite song on KISS (other than MHDAD). I love the arrangement in this - everything comes in at just the right time, and the piano is great. And um... IDK, ballad-ish with a powerful chorus. hyde is great here again.
Nakashima Mika
LIFE (ballad)
single; LIFE; 02; 03:55
I'm sad that her album probably won't have this version; it captures the song so much better than the single version. Anyway, it's a great song that's up to Mika's usual standards without actually being sad. I've had this on my playlist for months.
Otsuka Ai
クムリウタ (kumuriuta)
album; LOVE PiECE; 05; 04:59
This is one of the few Otsuka Ai songs I can put on repeat. (I don't hate her, I just don't really like her voice.) Ballad that goes along the lines of kingyo hanabi.
Shiina Ringo
ギャンブル (GAMBLE)
album; 平成風俗 (heisei fuuzoku); 01; 05:53
This was released the beginning of last year, but it hasn't left my playlist ever. Shiina Ringo's genius at work here.
この世の限り (kono yo no kagiri)
album; 平成風俗 (heisei fuuzoku); 13; 03:31
This song is all sorts of adorable. ♥~
Utada Hikaru
Prisoner of Love
album; HEART STATION; 09; 04:47
I actually don't like HEART STATION that much; this is one of the few songs that I enjoyed listening to. (It's also her new single, which makes me go O.O.) Anyway... typical Utada stuff these days? IDK. She's got her own special kind of pop.
YUI
LOVE & TRUTH
album; I LOVED YESTERDAY; 12; 04:19
I think I only like this song because it sounds different from her other songs - there's actually some sort of build-up drama. Yah, that's it.
